Step-by-step instructions for laying outdoor tiles:
1. Preparation: choose the location, remove vegetation and plan the size of the terrace.
2. Ground preparation: dig out the ground, smooth it and put a layer of gravel or sand as base.
We recommend always laying outdoor tiles in outdoor areas on gravel. Therefore, the gravel underground (gravel size 4-8 mm = 1 gravel) must be at least 4 cm high, which means with the tile has a total height of 6 cm.
3. Laying the tiles: Start in one corner and lay the outdoor tiles in your chosen laying pattern.
4. Joints: Use joint plate crosses and fill the joints with cement or grout.
To ensure that the tiles all have an exact joint of 3 mm (standard size), there are special joint plate crosses available in our shop https://peintner.shop/Plate-Joint-Crosses-3mm-joint
5. Hardening and cleaning: Let the grout dry, clean the surface and check if the base is flat.
Please note that even with a gravel underground, the outdoor tiles may shift slightly in height, especially after winter. In this case, remove the patio slab, smooth the subfloor and put the slab back in.
6. Finishing work: If necessary, protect the tiles with an impregnation.
With these steps, you can successfully lay outdoor tiles. Please observe local building regulations and permits.
